Breeze into First Round Proper
Posh Women began their Vitality Women’s FA Cup campaign in the third qualifying round as they welcome Mansfield Town Ladies to the Abbey Lawn. They were celebrations ahead of the game as Jess Driscoll made her 100th appearance for the club and she certainly celebrated that in style.
The midfielder opened the scoring as Perkins’ pull-back into the box found the on-rushing Driscoll and she calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner. Tara Kirk grabbed the second goal on 74 minutes, and although it wasn’t the most pleasing finish on the eye, it was a crucial goal to put breathing space between the two teams.
Cassie Steward secured the victory for Dan Lawlor’s side as her volley from inside the box was too strong for the Mansfield keeper. The visitors did pull one goal back, but Posh were comfortable winners.

Last-minute drama
Next up for Posh was FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands league leaders Stourbridge Women at the Abbey Lawn, who entered the game on an eight-game unbeaten run.
Defender Niamh Connor handed Posh the lead in the first half after she rose the highest from Kayleigh Aylmer’s corner to head home. The Glassgirl equalised in the 74th minute as Hannah Fishwick’s driven effort from the edge of the box found the bottom corner.
With the score still 1-1 after 90 minutes, the game entered extra-time and it looked like it was heading for penalties until a moment of magic from the captain in the 120th minute. A long-ball forward found Anderia Oliveria advancing through on-goal and she laid the ball off to Perkins, who spotted the keeper off her line and sent a lofted effort into the back of the net.
The victory sealed the Posh Women's place in the second round of the competition for the first-time in their history.

Magic at the Guardian Warehousing Arena
Posh travelled to the Guardian Warehousing Arena to face Sporting Khalsa in the second round of Vitality Women’s FA Cup and despite a large number of the players suffering from illness on the day, Lawlor’s side wrote another exciting chapter in their history.
The hosts opened the scoring just before the half an hour mark as Olivia Woolston advanced through on-goal and slotted the ball past Neive Corry. However, two goals in the final 15 minutes turned the game around for Posh.
Perkins grabbed the equaliser as Driscoll’s lofted ball over the top set the skipper on her way and her lofted effort found the back of the net. Then, in the final four minutes, Driscoll secured the victory as some dancing footwork on the edge of the box saw her charge into the box before firing home at the near post.
