Posh U18s secure victory over The Swans on Saturday morning.
Peterborough United U18s returned to winning ways on Saturday morning after a 3-0 victory over Swansea City at the idverde Training Ground in the Under-18 Professional Development, with Reuben Marshall and Tyler Winters both on the scoresheet.
The deadlock was broken on 25 minutes as Posh were awarded a penalty after Harley Mills’ cross into the box was handled by the Swans defender. Marshall stepped up to take spot-kick and calmly converted to hand Jamal Campbell-Ryce’s men the lead.
Posh doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time as midfielder Harry Titchmarsh raced towards the byline before pulling the ball back to Winters and he slotted the ball home from close-range.
The under 18s sealed the victory on 73 minutes as a quickly taken free-kick from Titchmarsh set Marshall thorough on-goal and curled his effort into the top right-hand corner, netting his 20th goal of the season.
Speaking on the game, Campbell-Ryce said: “From start to finish, especially at the beginning of the game, I thought we really controlled it and went in at half-time at two-nil and fully deserved it. A really good, solid performance were we limited them to very few chances.
“Also, two clean sheets in two games and that has been really pleasing. The best thing about that is it doesn't matter who is playing at the back, our defence principles are showing throughout the squad. I’m delighted for Reuben, he has been outstanding this season and to get to 20 goals is nothing short of fantastic for him.”
Posh XI: West, Dornelly, Toynton, Rose, Mills, Challinor, Marcon, Titchmarsh, Kelmendi, Marshall, Winters.
