Posh Women Under 23s travel to Barnsley in their first game of 2025.
Peterborough United Women Under 23s begin the new year off with a trip to the Dorothy Hyman Sports Centre to face Barnsley Women Development on Sunday afternoon (1.30pm) in their latest FA Women’s National League Reserves Midlands Division fixture.
The Posh entered the winter break in fifth place having accumulated 14 points from their opening nine games; however, due to a range of circumstances last played in the league on the 17th November – a 2-1 win against Rugby Borough Development before bowing out of the FAWNL Reserves League Cup with a heavy defeat to Ipswich Town Development.
Opponents, Barnsley Women Development, are bottom of the league having won one and drawn one of their opening nine fixtures of the season. They entered the winter break with confidence having secured a 6-1 victory over Sporting Khalsa Reserves in early December.

From The Gaffer
Allsebrook said: “Firstly, I want to wish everyone associated with Peterborough United Women a happy new year and a prosperous 2025! It has been a frustrating few weeks for us with postponements and abandonments meaning that it’s been a month since we completed 90 minutes. Whilst this is never ideal, it has allowed us to carefully manage the players’ loads to ensure the squad is fresh and ready to hit the second half of the season.
“Barnsley is a tough game to begin with after the break. It’s a long trip for us but we need to show that we can handle that and make sure our preparation is spot on. We go there with freshness and renewed confidence so we are hopeful of a strong performance.”
