Posh Under 18s v Birmingham City Under 18s

Peterborough United Under 18s are back in Professional Development League action on Wednesday afternoon with a trip to Birmingham City (12pm).

Our youngsters head into the game on the back of a narrow defeat to Hull City at the weekend with a number of Under 16s set to feature.

The Blues will provide a tough test for Jimmy Unwin's young charges with the Under 21s also facing Birmingham City this week (Friday).

TEAM NEWS

Jimmy Unwin has confirmed that it will be a youthful squad on duty with a number of injuries in the camp and players unavailable due to workload.

Noah Freeman is out on-loan at Bishop Stortford and won't feature.

THE OPPOSITION

Birmingham sit just above Posh in the league table with 27 points from their 23 league games and they go into the game on the back of a 3-0 defeat to Burnley. Their only victory in the last four came away at Fleetwood Town when a solitary strike earned them a 1-0 win.

FROM THE MANAGER

Professional Development Phase (Under 18s) Lead Coach Jimmy Unwin said ahead of the game: “Birmingham is always a good test for the lads because they are a strong Academy, but we go there with confidence and we are looking forward to it. We are taking a number of younger age group players, so that will be a good opportunity for them to sample what Under 18s football is all about.
