Darren Ferguson’s men reached this stage of the competition after a battling victory over AFC Wimbledon, while the Seasiders overcame Bolton Wanderers on penalty kicks. It will the third time the teams have met this season with Posh running out 4-2 winners at Bloomfield Road and Blackpool securing the three points with a last-gasp winner on Saturday.
TEAM NEWS
Manager Darren Ferguson has confirmed that he will assess his squad on Tuesday ahead of selecting his starting line-up with several players showing signs of fatigue. Jacob Wakeling (ankle) and Will Blackmore (hip) are unavailable for selection.
There is under 21 fixture taking place at AFC Rushden and Diamonds on Tuesday night, so those not travelling to Blackpool will get minutes under their belt. Blackpool attacker Karamoko Dembele is expected to come into the line-up after scoring the winner on Saturday, while experienced front man Jordan Rhodes is also set to return.
ONE TO WATCH
Kyle Joseph signed for the Seasiders during the 2023 summer transfer window from Swansea City for an undisclosed fee. The 21-year-old forward has already made close to 100 EFL appearances with successful loan spells at Oxford United and Cheltenham Town. Signed for the Swans from Wigan Athletic in 2021, Joseph also has international experience with the Scotland youth ranks.
FROM THE MANAGER
“Blackpool are stronger at home than they are away, so we know that they are a side that can prove dangerous as they demonstrated at times on Saturday. We travelled up on Monday, we will spend a little bit of time together and I will assess the squad in terms of fitness and fatigue on Tuesday morning. We need to make sure that we don’t pick up muscle injuries,” Darren Ferguson said.
