Peterborough United Under 18s will look to continue their run of form on Saturday (11am) when they face Burnley in the Professional Development League.
Posh Under 18s will aim to make it three wins on the bounce with the Clarets next up for Jimmy Unwin’s side.
The young Posh side have started the season brightly and face a trip to Lancashire on the back of two successive victories, starting with a dominant 6-0 victory against Queens Park Rangers in PE2.
From there, Posh continued their form with a trip to Ipswich Town where Unwin’s side ran out 3-1 winners, having fought back to claim all three points after going behind on the hour mark.
Saturday’s opponents have also started the season well, bouncing back from the opening day defeat to AFC Bournemouth where they have since recorded four successive league victories, most recently defeating Brentford 5-0 in the capital.
TEAM NEWS
Posh Under 18s will be without the services of defender Milan Kovaci who remains on schedule to complete his rehabilitation.
Under 18s’ Lead Coach Jimmy Unwin has confirmed that beside Milan there are a few doubts who will face a late fitness test tomorrow as the squad prepare to travel to Lancashire.
THE OPPOSITION
Tony Philliskirk’s side currently shadows Hull City at the top of the table, albeit the Clarets have a match in hand to reclaim top spot.
Burnley finished fourth last term, the Clarets wrapped up the season with back-to-back defeats to Blackburn Rovers and Oxford United as their early-season form faded towards the back end of the season.
FROM THE MANAGER
“I’m really pleased with large parts of the performance against Ipswich. We just need to tidy up on conceding chances when we play out from the back, but that’s the nature of how we play and the risk and reward that goes with it.
“We always have the same approach – the aim is to win the game. We want to play in our style and philosophy. Burnley look a very good side, probably the best I have watched this season in terms of a complete team who play with a good style; they’re always aggressive and at it so it will be a similar game to Bristol City in the way they play but they’re very effective in what they do,” Unwin said.
