Burton Albion

A look ahead to Tuesday night’s fixture at the Pirelli Stadium against Burton Albion (7.45pm).

Peterborough United make the trip to the Pirelli Stadium to face Burton Albion in Sky Bet League One action on Tuesday evening (7.45pm) looking to bounce back from the 3-0 home reverse to Cheltenham Town at the weekend.

The Brewers were 2-1 winners over Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday and have been in impressive form, particularly since the turn of the year as they look to move away from danger at the foot of the League One table.

TEAM NEWS

Posh defender Josh Knight is back in the squad after serving a three-match ban for his red card in the draw against Charlton Athletic, but midfielder Hector Kyprianou is expected to miss out with a foot injury. Manager Darren Ferguson confirmed that the former Leyton Orient man missed Monday’s training session as assessment continues following the injury, which was sustained in the opening half hour against Cheltenham Town.

Deji Oshilaja will miss out after he was dismissed in the victory over Wycombe Wanderers, but despite playing for a long period with 10-men, they still overcame the Chairboys. Jonny Smith is pushing for a start.

ONE TO WATCH

Dale Taylor (pictured below) joined the Brewers in a loan deal from Nottingham Forest and has already endeared himself to the club’s supporters for his work ethic, not to mention his clear ability. Taylor is a Northern Irish youth international and in November 2021, he received his first call-up to senior team. He made his senior team debut on 12 November 2021 in a 1–0 World Cup qualifier win against Lithuania.

FROM THE GAFFER

“Burton have had a pretty good 2023 and they have picked up some really good results including at the weekend against Wycombe Wanderers. It is always a tough game when you go to the Pirelli Stadium, it is a tight ground and we know that we are going to have to win a lot of second balls, but also we can’t forget to play our football and cause them problems,” Darren Ferguson said.

CLASSIC CONTEST

Fixtures with Burton Albion have usually ended in recent times with a Joe Ward goal. However, we are going a bit further back when the two sides met in the Emirates FA Cup at the Pirelli Stadium when Conor Washington (pictured below) bagged a brace and Jermaine Anderson was on target.
