Peterborough United Women Under 23s are back in action on Sunday afternoon (2pm) with a trip to The Belles’ at Stadium Way.
The Posh will be looking to claim their first points of the season when they face Doncaster Rovers in the FA Women’s National League Reserves Midlands division. Michael Allsebrook’s side will be looking to bounce back from their opening two games which they lost 5-4 and 5-2 against Rugby Borough Development and Notts County Reserves.
Meanwhile, The Belles’ have begun the campaign unbeaten with two wins from two including a 6-1 victory over Rugby Borough Development last weekend.
Team News
Allsebrook confirmed that he has a large squad to select from this weekend’s trip; with only Poppy Clapson continuing to recover from injury and Lauren King unavailable . Defender Jess Abrantes continues to make her way back from injury having played half an hour in last weekend’s home defeat to the Magpies’. Georgie Oliver and Emily Meli will be looking to add to their goal tallies having both netted in the three opening matches this season.
The Belles’ have been ruthless in front of goal in the early start to the season, with Emmie King netting four goals in three matches.
From The Gaffer
Allsebrook said: “We know the squads strengths have flipped from last season – we were really good defensively but struggled at times to score, but now we’re leaking goals in but finishing more at the other end. We know we have problems when out of possession and we are looking to address them but ultimately, we shouldn’t need to score four goals to win a game of football. Whilst the results haven’t gone our way, the performances have been good but we’re working well as a group to turn that around.
“We know that Doncaster are a strong and physical side from when we played them last year; they made it difficult to beat them. We need to make sure we work just as well when out of possession as when we have the ball, so we can be creative in the final third. It’s a tough game but we’re in a good place.”

Updates of the game will be available on The Posh Girls Academy X account, with post-match reaction also on the website.
