Posh Under 21s continue their Professional Development League campaign with a trip to the north-west on Tuesday afternoon (1pm).
Our Under 21s will be buoyed by the recent victory over Hull City when they face Fleetwood Town on the road.
Emmanuel Fernandez led the celebrations in midweek, scoring all three goals in that 3-1 success – denting the Tigers’ title hopes.
It was a double setback for Conor Sellars’ side, who saw rivals Sheffield United notch an impressive victory over our next opponents last time around.
Three points in Lancashire will see Posh complete the league double over their opponents, after Noah Freeman’s late strike won it for our Under 21s in the reverse fixture.
TEAM NEWS
Fewer senior players will be involved due to the Vertu Trophy semi-final tie at Wrexham on Wednesday.
Justin Osagie is unavailable after recently joining Ollie Rose out on-loan, penning a move to local side Peterborough Sports.
THE OPPOSITION
Fleetwood Town currently shadow our Under 21s in the league standings, having picked up seven victories, two draws and nine defeats across the campaign. The Cods will be looking for a response on Tuesday after falling to defeats to Coventry City and most recently Sheffield United.
FROM THE MANAGER
“We’re looking forward to the game, and more importantly hoping to build on the Hull City result. Fleetwood will be a tough test; we played them in November in a really tight game that we just about edged, so we know what they can offer. We know that we’ll need a strong performance in all areas so hopefully we can do that on Tuesday," Lead Professional Development Phase (Under 21s) Coach Ryan Semple said.
LIVE UPDATES
Updates of the game will be available on the Posh Academy X account.
VENUE
The fixture will take place at Poolfoot Farm.
