Posh Women U23s

Posh Women Under 23s travel to The Tractor Girls’ in the FA Women’s National League Reserve League Cup Quarter-Final.

After a weekend without a fixture, Peterborough United Women Under 23s return to competitive action as they travel to Ipswich Town Development on Sunday afternoon (2pm) at St Josephs’ College in the FAWNL Reserves League Cup quarter-final.

Michael Allsebrooks’ side entered the break with confidence having remained unbeaten in their last six matches; including a 2-0 win over Rugby Borough Development mid-November. Posh secured their place in the quarter-final after beating MK Dons Development 8-0 in October.

Opponents, Ipswich Town Development, compete in the South East and Central Division and currently sit second with five wins and one draw from their opening seven games.

They secured a place in the quarter-final after securing a 5-1 victory over Swindon Town Development in the first round.

Team News

Michael Allsebrook confirmed that the weekend without a match has enabled players to rest their legs.

Alicia Podd and Katie Gee remain doubtful as they continue to recover from injuries. Dulcie King is current top-scorer for the Tractor Girls’ with 11 goals in nine appearances this campaign.

From The Gaffer

Speaking to Posh+ ahead of the game, Allsebrook said: “We love a cup competition like everyone else. We had a good run last year in the plate and played against some talented sides. We showed last season what it takes to have a good cup run; to sometimes play gritty games and not play at your best to get the result.

“Ipswich will be a difficult game; they played us in pre-season and lost narrowly on the day. They’ve got a talented side with great facilities. We believe we have the quality to go far in this competition and Sunday will provide a great chance to prove that.”
