Posh Under 18s are back in Professional Development League Cup action on Friday (1pm) when they face Ipswich Town.
Peterborough United Under 18s make the trip to Ipswich Town for their final group game of the Professional Development League Cup on Friday (1pm) with Jimmy Unwin’s side knowing a victory will secure their progression into the knockout stage of the competition.
The Under 18s will be looking to replicate the success of the group that were crowned champions of the competition in 2023, and with four points already under their belt, Posh have the perfect opportunity to put them one step closer on Friday.
Ipswich are yet to pick up a point in the competition after defeats to Luton Town and Mansfield Town and will be looking to secure a different outcome from when the two sides met back in September which saw Unwin’s side run out 3-1 winners on Playford Road.
TEAM NEWS
There are no fresh injury concerns ahead of Friday. Ben Westcott, Max Beech and Milan Kovaci will all miss out as expected.
A LOOK AT THE OPPOSITION
Olly Lee was the Ipswich head coach the last time the sides met, but his departure to Norwich City has seen David Wright take charge on an interim basis. Since Lee’s move to the Canaries in October, Ipswich are winless in four with their sole point coming in a 3-3 draw with Watford - leaving them sat in seventh place.
FROM THE MANAGER
Jimmy Unwin said: “I’m looking forward to it. It’s going to be another tough game, especially because Ipswich have picked up recently and put in some good performances. There were positives to take from Wigan, and the resilience shown to get the result with ten-men was really what the group needed to bring them together so we’re all looking forward to it”.
