Posh Women continue their pre-season fixtures with a visit to Ipswich Town Women.
Peterborough United Women will face Ipswich Town Women in their second pre-season friendly on Sunday afternoon ( 2pm) at the AGL Arena, IP11 9HT.
Dan Lawlor’s side began their pre-season programme with a 3-0 defeat to FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division side Wolverhampton Wanderers and will face another tough test at the weekend.
Ipswich Town Women compete in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier League, the division above Posh, and like Wolves Women, missed out on promotion to the Women’s Championship last season by goal difference.
Team News
Posh Women are set to have numerous absentees for Sunday’s trip including long-term absentees Eden Bailey and Zaiga Làcìte, while Tara Kirk, Charlotte Hastings, Lucie Mugridge and Taylor Dean will also miss the game. Jess Evans suffered a fractured shoulder during last weekend’s loss to Wolves Women and will face a few weeks on the sideline.
Edyn Osker will step up from the U23s squad and join fellow youngster Poppie Brown, who made her debut for the first team last weekend, playing over 60 minutes.
The Tractor Girls are looking to improve on their runners-up position last season and have signed former West Ham United full-back Maisy Barker as well as retaining a majority of their squad, including their second-highest scorer Natasha Thomas and captain Bonnie Horwood.
From The Gaffer
“I felt we were competitive against Wolves last weekend, but I want to see an improvement all over the pitch this Sunday. The defensive line needs to become more of a unit and we need a bit more work when we are in possession of the ball.”
“We are going to be up against a very good Ipswich team, so we need to have good concentration all over the pitch and work hard. It’s what pre-season is all about and I’m looking forward to seeing the progress we will make from our last game.”
Ticket News
Supporters can pay on the gate for Sunday’s game. Tickets are priced at £6 for adults, £4 for concessions and £2 for under 16s.
