Peterborough United Under 18s are back in action on Saturday (11am) with a trip to Ipswich next in order for Jimmy Unwin’s side.
Posh Under 18s will be looking to achieve back-to-back victories for the first time this term when they face Ipswich Town in the Professional Development League.
Jimmy Unwin’s side will look to build on the 6-0 success over QPR last time out; Bolu Shofowoke (2), Lucca Mendonca (2), Max Beech and Joe Davies were all on the scoresheet as Posh recorded victory in PE2.
Ipswich, meanwhile, came away with a point after a pulsating encounter with Barnsley which finished 3-3 at Saturday’s venue.
TEAM NEWS
Milan Kovaci remains the only absentee, while Fabian Claxton featured last time out as he nears a return to full fitness - he’s expected to travel with the squad to Sussex.
Unwin has confirmed that, aside from Milan, he has a clean bill of health at his disposal. The faces who made the step-up to the Under 21s on Tuesday afternoon are all expected to feature on Saturday.
THE OPPOSITION
Olly Lee’s side finished last season in seventh place, an improvement to when the former Birmingham man took over in January.
Ipswich have had a difficult start to the new term, though, their only victory came against Hull City after respective defeats to Sheffield United and Crewe Alexandra to open the season.
Only Colchester United and QPR rank below the Tractors Boys, both of which have already fell to defeat in Cambridgeshire this season.
FROM THE MANAGER
“Of course it is an opportunity at three points. We don’t look at the table, we watch a couple of their games, put some key points together in and out of possession, and see what we can do in terms of earning a win – and the boys, if they go out with the right mentality, they give themselves a chance to do it.
“We concede some silly goals now and again. It’s not so much as a big journey on Saturday, which we’re used to in this league. You go north to Burnley away next week and we have some big travels so it’s really good for the boys to have a shorter journey. There are some real positives to go into Ipswich and when you go there you’ll get a proper game of football on some really good surfaces as well,” Unwin said.
