Posh Women begin their Northants County Cup campaign on Sunday afternoon.
Peterborough United Women face Kettering Town Women at Latimer Park on Sunday afternoon (2pm) in the second round of the Northamptonshire County Cup.
Kettering Town Women are in the East Midlands Women’s Division One South and are currently sat in third, beating Dunton & Broughton United Ladies in their previous fixture.
Dan Lawlor’s side had an impressive win in the first round of FA Cup against league rivals Stourbridge FC after a last-minute goal from forward Kier Perkins. Both sides received a bye in the first round of the competition, with Posh looking to reach the final of Northants County Cup once again this season.
Team News
Posh remain without midfielders Stacey McConville and Beatriz Borque, while Zaiga Lacite and Elloise Copson both have picked up injuries in recent weeks and will be unavailable. Midfielder Cassie Stewart is unlikely to feature at Latimer Park.
Forward Emily Johnson is set to make her return on Sunday and Development Squad player Anderia Oliveria is set to maintain her place in the squad after an impressive cameo in the FA Cup victory last weekend.
From The First Team Coach
“Every season creates a new opportunity. I think the girls will want to improve on from what happened last season in the County Cup and show what they can do this season. It was disappointing last season, but there is every chance that we can have success in the competition this year.”
“Last weekend showed that anything can happen in the cup. We need to make sure turn up on the day and get a result this Sunday, but we know it’s going to be a tough test against Kettering.”
