Posh Women face Leafield Athletic in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands.
Peterborough United Women are set to travel to the University of Wolverhampton on Sunday afternoon (3pm) as they face Leafield Athletic Ladies in their latest FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands fixture.
Dan Lawlor’s side bowed out of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup last weekend as they were defeated 7-0 by FA Women’s National League Premier Northern Division side Wolverhampton Wanderers Women. They are, however, currently second in the table having won seven out of their opening nine games this season.
Opponents Leafield Athletic are currently sat ninth and in the relegation zone, three points from safety, having won one and drawn two of their opening nine games, including picking up a point against Lincoln City in their previous league fixture.
Team News
Captain Kier Perkins is doubtful for Sunday’s fixture after picking up an injury in the warm-up for last weekend’s FA Cup tie at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Midfielder Poppie Brown has recovered well having picked up a knock in last Sunday’s loss.
Emily Brett is back in contention having been cup-tied last weekend, but midfielder Sophie Scargill remains unavailable for the match.
From The Gaffer
“Leafield is a new game, but naturally Sunday’s performance is on my mind still, we need to out the wrongs that we made. We’re not the finished article, there is very much work to be done. I want to see us do what we are good at on Sunday.
“We can’t focus too much on league positions. Leafield is going to be a tough test at the weekend. No team wants to be down the bottom of the table, so we fully expect them to fight for the three points.”

One To Watch
Forward Sarah Hazell will be looking to cause problems for the Posh defence as she is Leafield’s top goalscorer this season, having netted five times in 14 games this season, including twice in their 3-1 victory of Boldmere St Michael’s in September.
Last Time Out
Posh secured four points against Leafield Athletic during the 2022/23 campaign, having initially recorded a stalemate away before securing a 3-0 win at the Abbey Lawn. Tara Kirk netted a brace that afternoon, with Jess Driscoll also on the scoresheet.
