Posh Women return to FAWNL Division One Midlands action on Thursday evening.
Peterborough United Women will travel to Lincoln Moorlands Railway FC on Thursday evening (7:45pm) as they face Lincoln City Women in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands league.
Lincoln City currently sit only two points above Posh in the league table, having played five more games than Lawlor’s side this season. The two sides met earlier this season at the Weston Homes Stadium, which saw Posh secure a comfortable 4-1 victory in front of a record-breaking crowd for the Posh Women.
The Impes have netted 16 goals in two County Cup game games, but the same can’t be said for their league form after failing to win a game since the beginning of January. Lawlor’s side, however, have been on a great run of form, winning nine out of eleven games in all competitions.
Team News
Posh will be without midfielder Beatriz Borque and defender Elloise Copson for this Thursday’s fixture, as well as forward Zaiga Lacite who remains absent from injury.
Lawlor continues to welcome members of the ETC into the squad, with another player taking part last week’s side that secured a victory over Northampton Town Women and progressed into the final of the Northants County Cup.
The Imps’ Jessica Rousseau and Lucy Farrow may be ones to watch for the Posh defence, with Rousseau netting 12 in 14 appearances, and Farrow scoring 10 in 15 this season.
From The Gaffer
“Lincoln definitely have players that are going to try and cause us problems, but I’m just going into every game so confident at the minute. I really can’t give these players enough praise at the minute.
“What we are doing in training and the mentality we are trying to get into them, it’s working. I just hope we can keep this momentum going and show that it is really going to take a good side to beat us.
“The squad is in a really good place at the minute, so hopefully we can go out there on Thursday against Lincoln and show everyone that we are in that good place, and we can continue that run of form.”
