A look ahead to Posh Women’s final away league fixture of the season as they travel to LNER Stadium.
Peterborough United Women are set to face Lincoln City Women on Sunday afternoon (2pm) at the LNER Stadium in their final away league fixture of the season in the FA Women’s National League Midlands Division.
Dan Lawlor’s side will be aiming to continue momentum as they came from 3-1 behind last weekend to secure a 4-3 victory, courtesy of Frankie Pim’s injury time header.
The Imps’ are currently in eighth position in the table, having won four and drawn seven of their 19 matches this season. They will be looking to return to winning ways having lost 7-1 last weekend away at Sporting Khalsa.
Team News
Dan Lawlor spoke to Posh+ ahead of the fixture, and confirmed that he has a full squad at his disposal with defenders Sinead Fletcher and Niamh Connor back in contention. Ellie York remains a long-term absentee as she continues her rehabilitation from her ACL injury.
The Imps’ forward and academy product Jemima Footitt is enjoying her breakthrough season with the first team as she netted her first senior goal in last weekend’s 7-1 loss to Sporting Khalsa.
From The Gaffer
“Sunday was a bit of rollercoaster in terms of emotions. I have to give massive credit to the girls as they came out in the second half and played some great football; they didn’t allow Solihull any time on the ball, the intensity was great.”
“It’s going to be a good occasion on Sunday as we go to a proper stadium. These are the games the girls’ relish. It’s a big pitch and we come up against a tough side. We know they’ve got good pace out wide, the two managers there are well organised and the team knows what they are doing. We need to make sure are 100% focused and play to our best to get the three points. I want to see more of the performance like we showed in the second half last weekend.”
One To Watch
Forward Toni McHamilton has netted ten times this season in 23 appearances, as she leads The Imps’ squad goalscoring charts.
Last Time Out
There was a big score-line at Abbey Lawn in the reverse fixture back in September with Lawlor’s side securing a 4-1 victory, with strikes from Rosie Axten, Katie Middleton, Kier Perkins and a thunderous effort from Tara Kirk ensuring the three points for Posh.
