Peterborough United Under 18s are back in Professional Development League Cup action on Tuesday afternoon (2pm) as they face Mansfield Town.
Posh Under 18s make a return to PDL Cup action with a midweek trip to Mansfield Town on Tuesday afternoon (2pm).
Professional Development Phase (U18s) Lead Coach Jimmy Unwin, will look to replicate his side’s Cup Final success two seasons prior as they open their Group Stage account with a trip to their Category 3 counterparts.
TEAM NEWS
Unwin has confirmed that he will look to put out his strongest team, with Patryk Sykut in particular, as well as the standout performers from Saturday said to be in the reckoning to feature tomorrow.
A number of absentees who missed the Millwall fixture last time out will return to the travelling squad after a stint with the Under 21s on Friday night, which saw Posh run out 1-0 winners in Essex against Colchester United.
FROM THE MANAGER
Unwin said: “We’re looking forward to it, it’s a different kind of test because they’re part of the Category 3 programme but it will be a good cup game and it’s something different for the boys.
“There will be a different team from what played Millwall so it will have a different feel to it – the boys that come back in to the group, the majority played for the Under 21s (against Colchester) on Friday, so it will be interesting to see how they come back into the group and what they bring in terms of performance.
“We’ve picked the bones out of the defeat to the Lions, analysed the goals and performances as well, because there were large parts where we were actually really pleased with the performance; we dominated the ball, had 70% possession and ultimately had loads of chances – hopefully we can be more ruthless against Mansfield.
“We’re looking to win every game and see where it takes us, there will be a lot of learning along the way because we won’t always have the same squad available that will play against Mansfield, players will need to step up and if we win more than you lose, you might end up in a final and win a cup competition.”
