Northampton Town Development

A look ahead to the Northamptonshire County Cup tie against Northampton Town Women Development at Moulton College on Sunday afternoon (3pm).

Peterborough United Women travel to Moulton College to face Northampton Town Women Development in the Northamptonshire County Cup Quarter-Final.

It's a quick turnaround for Jake Poole’s side having been in league action on Thursday evening against Loughborough Lightning, with Hayley James heading home a late equaliser for Posh to share the points.

Posh Women have received byes in the previous two rounds of the competition going into this tie.

Opponents, Northampton Town Women Development, compete in the East Midland’s Regional Women’s Football League Division One South, and are currently third in the table with five wins and five draws from 13 matches.

They secured a place in the quarter-finals of the competition following an emphatic 11-0 win against Daventry Town FC.

Team News

Jake Poole spoke to Posh+ ahead of the game and confirmed that he will be looking to rotate his squad to provide players more minutes, and rest those that played in Thursday evening’s clash with Loughborough Lightning.

Katie Middleton could make her 50th Posh Women appearance if she features on Sunday afternoon. She is currently the club’s joint top-scorer this season with eight goals alongside Tara Kirk.

From The Gaffer

Jake Poole said ahead of the game: “Given the magnitude of the mid-week game we haven’t had much time to prepare for this Sunday. It will be a very different squad and will allow us the chance to rest a few players who have played a lot of football recently. It’s a competition we’ve got very different ambitions with. We’re against a lower level opposition but we will approach it in the same way that we prepared for the third round earlier in the season.”

One To Watch

Rachel Beswick is current top scorer for Northampton Town Women Development with four goals in 14 appearances this season.
