Posh Under 21s are back in action with an local affair on Tuesday evening (7.45pm) as they face Peterborough Sports in the Northants Hillier Senior Cup, with Ryan Semple's men looking to continue their strong start to the season and bounce back from last week’s defeat.

Posh were narrowly beaten in their last game 2-1 on a cloudy afternoon in Greater London against Millwall. The Lions scored twice from the spot with David Kamara's strike ultimately proving a consolation.

THE OPPOSITION

Peterborough Sports are currently members of the National League North and play at PIMS Park. At present they are 17th in the table and have picked up 11 points from their opening nine games. Last season, they impressively finished 15th in the league, securing their status for the current campaign. They are currently co-managed by the duo of Michael Gash and former Posh man Luke Steele who took over from Jimmy Dean in 2023 and hope to replicate the success of the latter following his many years of success with the side.

TEAM NEWS

Ryan De Havilland is expected to get an hour under his belt as he continues his comeback from a knee injury. With the first team in action at Leyton Orient and without a number of players due to injury, a number of the Under 21s could travel to make up the squad.

FROM THE MANAGER

“It was disappointing to be beaten at Millwall. It was a strong Millwall side with some real experience in there. For the first 25 minutes we took a while to get going and didn’t keep the ball well enough which gave them the momentum to create counter attacks and this will get punished at any level. It is frustrating that our scheduled game at Sheffield United is off, but it is good we have a game as players need minutes," Semple said.
