Peterborough United Under 18s are back in Professional Development League action on Saturday (12pm) when they welcome Birmingham City to PE2.
Posh Under 18s will look to bounce back from the back-to-back defeats when they welcome last year’s champions to idverde Training Ground on Saturday afternoon (12pm).
Barnsley held out to claim all three points last time out despite two late strikes from Bolu Shofowoke and Fabian Claxton which saw Posh fall short in Yorkshire.
The Blues are winless in three in all competitions and make the trip on the back off a 3-1 defeat to Hull City last weekend.
TEAM NEWS
Posh Under 18s will be without the service of Max Beech on Saturday who is close to a return after he sustained an injury on his knee.
Milan Kovaci remains sidelined and is expected to make his return in the New Year.
There are a few doubts ahead of Saturday’s clash, but their conditions will be assessed nearer to the time.
THE OPPOSITION
Martyn Olorenshaw’s side have picked up five victories so far this term and started the campaign with the 2-1 success over Watford, before they fell to defeat in Wales a week later at the hands of Cardiff City.
Since then, the Blues have picked up maximum points against Brentford, Bristol City, Barnsley and Wigan Athletic which sees them sat fifth in the table.
It has been an indifferent start to the Under 18s Premier League Cup though, the Midlands-based outfit have lost their opening two Group Stage fixtures to Crystal Palace and Arsenal, who are both Category One oppositions.
FROM THE MANAGER
“They won the league last year and have some really good players – it will be a tough game. The boys will need to be on the top of their game to get a result but I’m looking forward to it. Quite a few of the boys played with the Under 21s so I’ll need to manage minutes, but it will be a good test for them,” Jimmy Unwin said.
