Posh U18s v Coventry City U18s

Peterborough United Under 18s return to Professional Development League action on Saturday (11am) as they welcome Coventry City to PE2.

Posh will look to make it back-to-back victories when they face the Sky Blues on the weekend.

Jimmy Unwin’s side claimed the points last time out in the cup as Joe Davies was on hand to end Luton Town’s run of six unbeaten fixtures in all competitions.

The Hatters were in front on two occasions, but an impressive second half display saw Posh defeat the early Group H pace setters.

Saturday’s opposition meanwhile bounced back from the defeat at Sheffield Wednesday as they recorded victory over Brentford at Wheatsheaf Park.

TEAM NEWS

Posh Under 18s will be without the service of Max Beech on Saturday who misses out due to a knee injury. He is making a good recovery and is expected to make his return within a few weeks.

Davon Gbajumo is fully recovered from a knock he sustained last week and made an appearance in midweek for the Under 21s.

Rylie Fitzpatrick will also miss out due to concussion protocol, meanwhile Nathan Aikins is in contention for Saturday.

Milan Kovaci remains side-lined as he continues his rehabilitation.

THE OPPOSITION

Coventry City sit tenth after a difficult start to the new term, but recent victories against Hull City and Brentford could see a turn in momentum as the Sky Blues look to cause problems to the Posh backline.

Leigh Kingsbeer’s side started the season with defeats to Brentford and Colchester United, but opened their account with a 3-2 victory over Cardiff City.

From then, the midlands outfit picked up just the one point at home to Charlton Athletic before the recent success over Hull.

FROM THE MANAGER

“I’m really pleased with the attitude the boys shown to come back [against Luton], really pleased with the performance, second half more so than the first half.

“Saturday is a good chance for the boys to build on the weekend. Coventry are a good academy with some good players so it’s going to be a good test for the boys and obviously with some of them playing in the Under 21s game, it’ll limit who plays for us but I’m looking forward to it,” Unwin said.
