Posh Under 18s are back in Professional Development League duties on Saturday (11am) as they welcome current leaders Sheffield United to PE2.

Peterborough United Under 18s will face table-toppers Sheffield United on Saturday (11am) with Jimmy Unwin’s side looking to bounce back from the FA Youth Cup defeat to Northampton Town last time out.

A crowd of 550 attended the Weston Homes Stadium as the Cobblers advanced into round two despite Patryk Sykut’s strike within a minute of the restart.

Saturday’s opposition claimed victory over Wigan Athletic in their last outing, and will hope to recreate the same success as last time the two sides met which saw the Blades run out 4-0 winners in Cambridgeshire.

TEAM NEWS

Posh will be without the service of Max Beech who continues to nurse an injury on his knee. Milan Kovaci will also miss out, with his return expected within the New Year.

THE OPPOSITION

Sheffield United will be looking to extend their unbeaten streak to 12 matches in all competitions on Saturday. Matt Thorpe’s side have started the term with pace, recording victories in each of their opening four matches. Since then, the Blades have won five times, which includes respective victories over Burnley and Wigan Athletic in the PDL Cup.

FROM THE MANAGER

“I’m looking forward to Saturday – it will be another tough test. Sheffield United are one of the best in the Category 2 academy in terms of productivity. They have a great tradition of creating players, they are really competitive so it will be another tough game. There’s no shock they are top of the league, like they are most years so it will be another test which the boys will relish. The have reacted well (to the Northampton defeat), and we have moved on from it so it’s up to the boys to make sure they get the most out of every game,” Jimmy Unwin said.
