The Latics provide the opposition for our Under 18s’ latest Professional Development League clash on Saturday morning (11am).
Posh Under 18s will be keen to mark their return to PE2 with victory as Wigan Athletic travel South for Saturday’s 11am kick-off.
Jimmy Unwin’s side fell short to Sheffield Wednesday last time out as Dominic Weston’s brace condemned our youngsters to defeat in South Yorkshire.
The Latics meanwhile shared the spoils with Hull City in their last outing and will look to put their mixed run of form to an end on Saturday, which has seen Peter Murphy’s side achieve only one win in six.
TEAM NEWS
Ben Westcott will miss out on Saturday, alongside Max Beech and long-term absentee Milan Kovaci who continue rehabilitation for their respective injuries.
In more positive news, captain Andre Changunda is back in contention for Saturday’s clash, who missed out on the trip to Sheffield last time out.
A LOOK AT THE OPPOSITION
Wigan Athletic, who currently sit sixth in the table, have had a mixed start to the season. Peter Murphy’s side have won on five occasions, lost five and drawn twice, but have seen fortunes differ in recent weeks as they look to make it three unbeaten on Saturday.
FROM THE MANAGER
Jimmy Unwin said ahead of the game “We’re looking forward to the game as always. There were definitely some positives to come out of Sheffield Wednesday; we changed at half-time to challenge and stretch the players, which put a few out of their comfort zone, so I’m pleased with the way they dealt with that. Wigan will cause a big threat on the turnover on Saturday, and they can be very devastating when they do that well – so we will have to be prepared for that. We have had a different week with no Under 21s fixture so there should be that freshness from the boys who are ready for it.”
