A look ahead to Wednesday's Professional Under 23 Development League fixture as Posh host Burnley as Ryan Semple’s side look to continue their fine start to the season (1pm).

Peterborough United Under 21s host Burnley Under 21s on Wednesday afternoon in the latest Professional Development League fixture with Ryan Semple's men looking to build on a bright start to the campaign.

Last time out Posh were victorious in a chaotic game last Tuesday at the Barnsley Training Complex. Posh beat Barnsley Under 21s 4-3 thanks to braces from both Joe Davies and Harley Mills, which concluded with last-gasp penalty kick from the aforementioned Mills. Posh Under 21s currently sit in sixth place in the Professional Under 23 Development League North Section despite playing far fewer games and the majority of the sides in the division.

THE OPPOSITION

Burnley Under 21s currently sit 3rd in the North Section of the Professional Under 23 Development League with 11 points from eight matches. They are managed by former played Andy Farrell. Farrell played 257 times for the Lancashire based outfit in the late 80s and early 90s and now plays a key role in the sides academy.

The Clarets head to idverde Training Ground on the back of a strong showing last time out in which they were victorious in the Premier League Cup over Luton Town, a game in which they were 4-1 winners. In the game they took a 2-0 which they carried into half-time thanks to goals from Joe Westley and Kamarni Ryan. It was Westley again, who scored his second of the evening and his sides third before Joe Bauress made it four late on which completed a successful day for the side from Lancashire.

FROM THE MANAGER

With the first team in EFL Trophy action on Tuesday evening, the Under 21s are likely to see a younger outfit than usual as a number of players could feature in the first team squad against Stevenage.

"It will be a younger group, but we will go into the game with the mentality of trying to come away with three points. It will be a tough test for the group because Burnley are a good side, but there have been plenty of positives in recent weeks that we can build on," Semple said.
