Posh Under 21s make a return to Professional Development League action on Friday afternoon (1pm) with Swansea City the task at hand.

Peterborough United Under 21s will play out their first minutes of the New Year on Friday afternoon as Swansea City make the trip across the border.

Our Under 21s welcome the Swans having picked up maximum points at Coventry City last time out owing to a strike in each half from Donay O’Brien-Brady and Patryk Sykut.

The result saw the development phase end the calendar year in fourth place, having played three less than the sides sitting above them.

Anthony Wright’s side hit the road having beaten Colchester United 4-1 in their last fixture. The result signalled the end of a poor run of results which saw the Welsh outfit pick up just one win in ten.

The two teams last met towards the back end of last season where Kyrell Wilson’s double and a strike from Glory Nzingo secured the victory for the Swans.

TEAM NEWS

Max Beech and Milan Kovaci remain sidelined with their separate injury concerns, while Andre Changunda is doubtful.

The First Team’s fixture with Leyton Orient on Saturday could impact the number of senior players available for the game.

THE OPPOSITION

Anthony Wright’s side sit ninth in the PDL South section having picked up four wins, three draws and five losses so far this term. The Swans could climb above Bristol City with a victory, while boasting games to spare over the sides around them.

FROM THE MANAGER

“I’m looking forward to finally getting back into the games programme – the players will be thinking the same too. They’ve trained really well over the past few weeks and they’re chomping to get going and hopefully get a positive result. We always demand that the lads are ultra-competitive, play on the front-foot, dominate the ball where possible and also recognise that when our opponents have the upper-hand we have to dig in and work for each other – so I’ll be looking for the same principles on Friday,” Ryan Semple said.

Updates of the game will be available on The Posh Academy X account, with post-match reaction also on Posh+.
