Posh v Cambridge United

A look ahead to Saturday's Sky Bet League One meeting with Cambridge United at the Weston Homes Stadium (3pm).

Peterborough United welcome local rivals Cambridge United to the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday afternoon in Sky Bet League One action (3pm) with a sell-out crowd expected in PE2 as Darren Ferguson's men look to make it three wins from three this week.

The U's started the season slowly but arrive in fine form following five successive victories in all competitions and in that run, they have not conceded a goal. That excellent run followed six successive defeats in all competitions.

TEAM NEWS

Defender Jadel Katongo is back at the club for the final part of his rehabilitation following a hamstring injury. He could feature in next Saturday’s trip to Charlton Athletic.

Chris Conn-Clarke played an hour for Posh in the 4-1 win over Crystal Palace Under 21s on Tuesday night and came through unscathed. Goalkeeper Jed Steer underwent an operation on Thursday and will be out for five weeks, but Hector Kyprianou and Rio Adebisi are back on the grass and are nearing returns.

Mahamadou Susoho is due back at the club in early January, but striker Bradley Ihionvien is unavailable as he resets following a niggly calf injury. Meanwhile, Garry Monk must make a late decision on whether Northern Ireland striker Shayne Lavery can return in time for this local derby, following a hamstring injury that has kept him sidelined since mid-September. Ryan Loft is still struggling with a dead leg, and fellow forward Dan Barton (knee) will not be back until next month.

MANAGER QUOTES

"It is a game that I am sure all of the supporters are looking forward too, but for us, we have to treat it like any other game when it comes to the preparation. However, the players will be aware what it means when they go out to warm-up and see the atmosphere. Last season was a great win for us and a great day for the club, but it is gone, I won’t be talking about it to the players in the build-up to this game. Cambridge are in good form, they have changed a little bit how they play from the start of the season, they are more compact and hard to break down, which is reflective of their recent results,” Darren Ferguson said.
