A look ahead to Tuesday night’s Sky Bet League One fixture with Cheltenham Town at the Weston Homes Stadium (7:45pm).
Peterborough United welcome Cheltenham Town to the Weston Homes Stadium on Tuesday evening in Sky Bet League One action (7:45pm) with Darren Ferguson’s men looking for a positive result after a 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient at the weekend.
Cheltenham, who have yet to score in the league this season, were beaten 1-0 by league leaders Exeter City on Saturday and will be looking to replicate their performance in PE2 last term when they ran out 3-0 winners with the now departed Alfie May netting a brace.
TEAM NEWS
Posh are without the services of goalkeeper Will Blackmore and midfielder Jeando Fuchs due to injury, while David Ajiboye is a doubt after picking up a dead leg during his substitute appearance on Saturday against the O’s.
Ricky-Jade Jones returned to training after an ankle injury on Monday and could be added to the squad. With no goals so far, the Robins will probably shake up their attacking options for the visit to the Weston Homes Stadium with Aidan Keena pushing for a start. Experienced defender Curtis Davies could also come into the XI.
ONE TO WATCH
Former Posh defender Lewis Freestone (pictured below) has been a mainstay in the Cheltenham defence and his versatility has been key. The Academy graduate can operate as a left-sided centre back or as a left-back/left-wing back and he will be looking to keep the Posh forward line quiet.
FROM THE MANAGER
“Cheltenham haven’t been thumped by anyone, they have been competitive, but obviously they have struggled at the top end of the pitch, but that can change quickly. We know that we have to get our performance level right. On Saturday, our first half display was not good enough, we have to be more aggressive, particularly at home. We need a win, we are going for the win and we know that we have to play well to get the win,” Ferguson said.
TICKET NEWS
Cheltenham have sold under 50 tickets for the game so far and will be accommodated in the away section of the Main Stand. The Deskgo Stand is closed. Supporters can purchase tickets at www.theposhtickets.com and via the Weston Homes Stadium Box Office.

HEAD TO HEAD
Posh were beaten 3-0 by Cheltenham last season, but there have been games down the years where Posh have been successful including in 2002 when Andy Clarke and Jason Lee both bagged braces in a 4-1 win. Posh+ subscribers can watch highlights from that game right now.
A FOOT IN BOTH CAMPS
We mentioned earlier about Lewis Freestone coming up against his former side and Kevin Russell (pictured below with Darren Ferguson) being in the dugout against his former employees and there have been others down the year to represent both teams including Ryan Broom, Grant McCann and Craig Alcock.
Tom Nichols, Reuben Reid, Kyle Vassell, Lee Williams, James Wesolowski, Jaanai Gordon-Hutton, Josh Low, Danny Andrew, Richard Forsyth and Mo Eisa also make the list.
