A look ahead to Saturday’s fixture at the Weston Homes Stadium against Derby County (3pm).

Peterborough United welcome Derby County to the Weston Homes Stadium in Sky Bet League One action on Saturday afternoon (3pm) with both sides looking for maximum points to strengthen their claim for a play-off position as the season enters the final stages.

Back to back away wins at Burton Albion and Lincoln City have moved Posh within four points of the play-off positions with both the Rams and Bolton Wanderers the sides ahead of Darren Ferguson’s men in the league table.

Derby suffered a surprise 2-0 home defeat to Fleetwood Town last time out at Pride Park and will be looking to bounce back and do the double over Posh after a victory at Pride Park earlier in the campaign following a 2-1 success.

TEAM NEWS

Posh boss Darren Ferguson has confirmed that he has a full fit squad to choose from for the meeting with the Rams, but will be without defender Ronnie Edwards who is away on international duty with England under 20s. He was an unused substitute in their victory over Germany on Wednesday evening.

Kell Watts, who is back at the club following treatment at parent club Newcastle United, is fit again, but won’t be available this weekend, however should be ready to go for the clash with Oxford United next week.

As for Derby, Max Bird came through the Fleetwood clash unscathed after returning to the starting XI following a groin injury, and the midfielder is expected to feature from the first whistle once again here. Jason Knight is away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland.

ONE TO WATCH

Experienced front man David McGoldrick (pictured below) netted the stoppage time winner against Posh at Pride Park and he has been in fine form for the Rams, particularly since the turn of the year. The former Sheffield United striker is pretty lethal inside the penalty area, holds the ball up expertly and is one of the most dangerous forwards in the division.

FROM THE GAFFER

“Derby have a lot of experience in their ranks, they have assembled a really talented squad and I am sure they will be wanting to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat to Fleetwood Town. Paul Warne is a really good manager, he has enjoyed a lot of success in this division and also in the division higher. I am sure it will be a good atmosphere, a big crowd and a big-game feel but we have to make sure that we play the game not the occasion,” Darren Ferguson said.
