A look ahead to the Sky Bet League One fixture at the Weston Homes Stadium against Fleetwood Town on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).
Peterborough United welcome Fleetwood Town to the Weston Homes Stadium on Tuesday evening in Sky Bet League One action (7.45pm) knowing a point will guarantee their involvement in the end of season play-offs.
Darren Ferguson’s men were well beaten by Oxford United at the weekend, a result that all but ended the club’s automatic promotion hopes. Fleetwood are struggling towards the foot of the division, but they secured a vital 2-0 victory over Northampton Town at Highbury last time out.
TEAM NEWS
Winger Michael Olakigbe remains sidelined with a foot injury, while midfielder Jeando Fuchs and goalkeeper Will Blackmore are both unavailable due to knee and hip injuries respectively. Ferguson confirmed a number of his players have niggly injuries and will leave it late before naming his final XI for the clash with the Cod Army.
After finding the net during the win over Northampton, Lawal should keep his place in the Fleetwood engine room alongside Bournemouth loanee Galvin Kilkenny. Having helped goalkeeper Jay Lynch keep a clean sheet, Shaun Rooney, Ben Heneghan and Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu will all retain their spots in the back three.
ONE TO WATCH
Jayden Stockley
Experienced front man Jayden Stockley joined Fleetwood on a three-year deal in January 2023 from Charlton Athletic and has netted 12 goals for the Cod Army so far in his career. After starting his career at AFC Bournemouth, he has had spells at Aberdeen, Exeter City and Preston North End during his career. Excellent in the air and with his back to goal, Stockley is expected to lead the line against Posh.
FROM THE MANAGER
“Fleetwood are a side that are fighting for their lives at the bottom of the division, but I watched them against Northampton Town and they were very good on the day and defended very resolutely. We know that we have to do, we need a point to secure our play-off position and we will be going all out to ensure we get the job done as quickly as possible,” Darren Ferguson said.
