A look ahead to Saturday's Sky Bet League One meeting with Leyton Orient at the Weston Homes Stadium (12.30pm).
Peterborough United return to Sky Bet League One action at Saturday lunchtime when they welcome Leyton Orient to the Weston Homes Stadium (12.30pm), with Darren Ferguson's men looking to build on the 4-2 success over Walsall in the Vertu Trophy on Tuesday evening.
A brace from Gustav Lindgren on his home debut and a double from Malik Mothersille, including another coolly converted spot-kick, earned Posh progress in that competition. Like Walsall were, Orient are in fine form with boss Richie Wellens awarded the League One Manager of the Month for December.
The O's set-up a fourth round tie with Manchester City in the Emirates FA Cup after knocking out Championship side Derby County on penalty kicks earlier this week.
TEAM NEWS
Posh are without the services of Kwame Poku and Rio Adebisi who remain sidelined due to injury while Cian Hayes is a doubt after picking up a shoulder injury in training.
Carl Johnston returns to the squad after being cup-tied for the games at Everton and against Walsall while new signings Sam Hughes and Tayo Edun go straight into the squad.
The O's are without the suspended Sean Clare, who picked up two bookings in the win over the Rams. New signing Dion Markanday is avaialble after joining on-loan from Blackburn Rovers following a fruitful stint in League Two with Chesterfield.
MANAGER QUOTES
"Leyton Orient are a side I have watched a few times and they are a good side as their results will testify. I know Richie well, he was a player when I was in charge at Doncaster Rovers, he is an experienced manager now and gets a lot out of his players. For us, we know that we have to find the right balance, we can't lose our attacking intent. On Tuesday, that attacking play was very good," Darren Ferguson said.
ONE TO WATCH
Charlie Kelman
Charlie Kelman (pictured below) became the O's second summer signing of the 2024/25 summer transfer window when he joined Orient from QPR on a season-long loan on 29th June 2024.
Kelman, who came through the academy at Southend United, following a move back to the United Kingdom after spending time in the youth set-up of FC Dallas, made his league debut at 17 for the Shrimpers. In his debut, he scored his first professional goal, an outstanding effort from inside his own half in Southend's defeat to Plymouth Argyle.
In total, Kelman made 31 league appearances for Southend, scoring six times. In the summer of 2020, he joined Queens Park Rangers on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee. Kelman previously joined the O's in the promotion-winning season in League Two where he found the net seven times, to help Orient on their way to League One.
