Posh v Lincoln City

A look ahead to Saturday’s Sky Bet League One meeting with Lincoln City at the Weston Homes Stadium (3pm).

Peterborough United entertain Lincoln City at the Weston Homes Stadium in Sky Bet League One action on Saturday afternoon (3pm) with Darren Ferguson’s men looking to go into the international break on the back of a positive result.

A 1-1 draw at Carlisle United on Tuesday night kept Posh inside the top six going into the clash with the Imps. Since the last international break, Posh remain unbeaten within 90 minutes with only a penalty shoot out defeat to Mansfield Town on the results card.

Lincoln are currently 12th in the Sky Bet League One table after seeing their last fixture at Leyton Orient abandoned after a medical emergency in the stands. Lincoln were losing 1-0 at the time of the abandonment.

TEAM NEWS

Posh are without the services of goalkeeper Will Blackmore and midfielder Jeando Fuchs due to injury, while Malik Mothersille continues to work hard in training to boost his fitness after missing the majority of pre-season.

Hector Kyprianou is available again after suspension and will be pushing for a place in the starting line-up but Ryan De Havilland performed well in his absence against the Cumbrians. There are no fresh injury worries to contend with after the trip to Carlisle.

ONE TO WATCH

Lasse Sørensen (pictured below) joined Lincoln from Stoke City after a loan stint at MK Dons and he goes into this game in good form after netting twice in the 2-0 win over Cheltenham Town. The Danish midfielder can operate in a number of different positions and has established himself as a firm fans favourite at Sincil Bank. The 23-year-old has represented his country at various age groups all the way up to under 20s.

FROM THE ASSISTANT MANAGER

“Lincoln are a well-coached team, they are organised and hard to break down. I think they will feel they have had a pretty decent start to the season, they have a game or two in hand on others and they put in a good performance against West Ham United in the cup. For us, there were plenty of positives in midweek, we were obviously disappointed with the nature of the late leveller, but we have addressed it, we move on and look forward to another good game on Saturday,” Kieran Scarff said.

TICKET NEWS

Lincoln fans will be accommodated in the Deskgo Stand with just under 1,400 currently sold. Posh fans can purchase tickets now at www.theposhtickets.com and via the Weston Homes Stadium Box Office.

POSH+

Fans can listen to the game in the UK with audio passes available for £5. Chris Dowsett and Nilesh Patel will be providing commentary. Match passes are available for overseas subscribers priced at £10.

HEAD TO HEAD

You can’t talk about a Posh meeting with Lincoln City without referencing the 3-3 draw that secured Posh promotion to the Championship. Siriki Demble and a double from Jonson Clarke-Harris including that never to be forgotten spot-kick deep into stoppage time earned Posh the point they needed.

A FOOT IN BOTH CAMPS

There have been so many links between the two clubs down the years. Keith Alexander (pictured below) was a hugely successful manager for the Imps and led the Darragh MacAnthony era in PE2. On the pitch, there have been a host of players who have performed with distinction for both clubs including Richard Butcher, Michael Bostwick, Lee Frecklington, Simon Yeo and Joseph Bursik – who played such a huge role in that aforementioned promotion after joining on-loan towards the end of the campaign.

Other players include: Ethan Hamilton, Conor Coventry, Neale Fenn, Peter Gain, Jorge Grant, Francis Green, Dean Keates and Jamie Hand.
