Posh v Oxford United

A look ahead to the Sky Bet League One play-off semi-final second leg against Oxford United at the Weston Homes Stadium on Wednesday evening (8pm).

Peterborough United welcome Oxford United to the Weston Homes Stadium for the Sky Bet League One play-off second leg on Wednesday evening (8pm) with Darren Ferguson’s men looking to overturn a narrow 1-0 deficit.

Elliott Moore’s second half header was the difference between the two sides at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday night. Posh finished fourth in the regular season with Oxford one place behind them in the league table. Oxford have won both games at the Kassam between the two sides with Posh running out 3-0 winners at the Weston Homes Stadium.

TEAM NEWS

Posh boss Darren Ferguson has a decision to make over his starting line-up with Kwame Poku impressing as a second half substitute on Saturday. Ricky-Jade Jones could also come into the thinking while the game has come just too soon for Jeando Fuchs.

Jacob Wakeling has been ruled out with an ankle injury, but Michael Olakigbe is available after injury. As for the visitors, Oxford manager Des Buckingham has reported no fresh injury concerns, ensuring that he will have most of his squad available for selection.

The 39-year-old is likely to opt for consistency and stick with the same line-up that started the narrow first-leg victory. Welsh forward Mark Harris will continue to spearhead Oxford's attack after scoring three goals in the last two away games.

ONE TO WATCH

Rúben Rodrigues

After three very successful seasons with Notts County, Rúben put pen to paper to sign for the U’s in June 2023. Although born in Portugal, it was in the Netherlands that he began his footballing journey, with his first professional side being Wilhelmina Boys. He also played for Gemert, Den Bosch and Treffers before crossing the North Sea to sign for the Magpies in 2020. A stylish playmaker, he was on target in the 5-0 win over Posh last month.

FROM THE MANAGER

“I am really looking forward to the game. I hope it is a wonderful atmosphere. It is a night game, almost a sell-out and the supporters can play a huge part, we need them too. Everyone talks about that night against MK Dons back in 2011 in terms of atmosphere, we need that again. Hopefully the fans can do that for us and we can play our part by putting in an energetic performance. We know what we have to do,” Ferguson said.
