A look ahead to the Sky Bet League One fixture against Port Vale at the Weston Homes Stadium on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).
Peterborough United welcome Port Vale to the Weston Homes Stadium in Sky Bet League One action on Tuesday night (7.45pm) with Darren Ferguson’s men looking to get back on track after three successive defeats at Exeter City, against Wigan Athletic and at Adams Park against Wycombe Wanderers.
Despite those defeats, Posh are still seven points better off than this time last season and go into the clash with the Valiants in fifth place in the table. Vale are, at the time of writing, still managerless following the departure of Andy Crosby with a host of bosses linked with the role including former Cambridge United chief Mark Bonner.
Vale picked up a point with a last-gasp penalty from Funso Ojo against play-off hopefuls Stevenage at Vale Park at the weekend. Posh were 1-0 winners against Vale earlier in the campaign thanks to a solitary header from Ephron Mason-Clark.
TEAM NEWS
Manager Darren Ferguson has confirmed that all of his squad trained on Monday with the exception of goalkeeper Will Blackmore and Jacob Wakeling, with better news too on the latter, who only looks set to be out of action for six weeks rather than the initial diagnoses of the full campaign.
Ephron Mason-Clark, Jeando Fuchs, Michael Olakigbe and Kwame Poku are all set to return to the squad with the latter back involved after a long lay-off with an ankle problem. Olakigbe was suspended at the weekend, Mason-Clark missed the game due to a knock and Fuchs was away due to the birth of his baby.
Ferguson has hinted at changes to his starting line-up though as he looks to freshen up his starting line-up.
ONE TO WATCH
South African midfielder Ethan Chislett has previously spent time representing Southampton, Aldershot Town, Metropolitan Police and Basingstoke Town, though developed quickly with a spell in Spain with Reddis. He returned to Metropolitan Police and managed to win a move back to Aldershot Town, where he scored nine National League goals during the 2019–20 season. He then signed for AFC Wimbledon in August 2020 and played 123 games over three seasons, top-scoring from midfield in the 2022–23 campaign. He joined Port Vale in July 2023.
FROM THE MANAGER
“Port Vale are a side that plays with a lot of energy and they come here off the back of a 2-2 draw against Stevenage. It is about what we do though, we have had a bit of a punch on the nose in recent weeks and it is time to get back to winning ways,” Darren Ferguson said.
