Posh v Stevenage

A look ahead to Saturday's clash with Stevenage at the Weston Homes Stadium (12.30pm).

Peterborough United welcome Stevenage to the Weston Homes Stadium in Sky Bet League One action on Saturday with the game kicking off at 12.30pm as it is one of a few games screened live by Sky Sports+.

Darren Ferguson's men go into the game on the back of a defeat at Wigan Athletic, while Stevenage beat Wrexham 1-0 last time out. Posh won their last home game 3-2 against Bristol Rovers with Kwame Poku among the goal-scorers.

TEAM NEWS

Hector Kyprianou is the latest Posh player on the treatment table with the skipper undergoing a scan on his hamstring injury on Thursday afternoon. Jadel Katongo has already been ruled out for 10 weeks while Mahamadou Susoho, Chris Conn-Clarke and Rio Adebisi also unavailable.

Ryan De Havilland came through 90 minutes for the Under 21s as they beat Barnsley 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon and has been added to the squad, while striker Bradley Ihionvien is expected to be in the squad after a spell on the side-lines with a calf strain.

Defender Oscar Wallin missed the midweek defeat and could come back into the side although he has been struggling for fitness after a busy spell of games following his arrival from Sweden. The situation with Joel Randall was discussed by manager Darren Ferguson in the pre-match press conference with a resolution not ruled out.

Daniel Sweeney (knee), Jake Forster-Caskey (knee) and Aaron Pressley (ankle) are also out of contention for the visitors, but goalkeeper Taye Ashby-Hammond has now been on the bench in back-to-back games after recovering from a hand injury.

The 25-year-old should not be threatening to take Murphy Cooper's place in goal anytime soon, though, and the majority of the starters from the victory over Wrexham should be retained. Defender Charlie Goode is unavailable due to a leg injury.

ONE TO WATCH

Jamie Reid

Reid graduated from the Exeter City youth team to turn professional in April 2012. Reid made his debut for Exeter on 26th December 2012, receiving praise for his performance in a 3–1 defeat to Oxford United at St James Park. Loan moves at Dorchester, Torquay United and Truro followed before making the move permanent to Torquay.

Reid joined League Two club Mansfield Town on a two-year contract on 23 June 2020. He scored his first goal for Mansfield on 10 November 2020 in an EFL Trophy group game against Scunthorpe United. Reid signed for fellow League Two club Stevenage on 13 July 2021. Reid scored an 88th minute penalty to equalise the match in a third round FA Cup tie away at Premier League side Aston Villa as Stevenage prevailed 2–1 at Villa Park.

He was handed a debut for Northern Ireland after a superb season with Stevenage last season under Steve Evans.

MANAGER QUOTES

"Stevenage had a good result against Wrexham and are a very well-organised outfit. They are tactically a little stronger under Alex Revell in the games this season and he is a manager who is learning and wants to improve. He is a good guy. There are a few familiar players in their ranks but the job on Saturday is to get a win and bounce back and I am sure the players will do that from the defeat on Tuesday," Darren Ferguson said.
