Posh v Stevenage

A look ahead to Tuesday night's clash with Stevenage at the Weston Homes Stadium (7pm).

Peterborough United welcome Stevenage to the Weston Homes Stadium for the second time in four days, this time in the second group phase fixture of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy with Posh knowing a victory would secure their progress into the knockout stages of the competition that they are currently the holders of.

A win at Gillingham on match day one means that three points against Boro will mean the third game of the group will be irrelevant in terms of qualification for Darren Ferguson's men.

if the scores are level at the end of the 90 minutes, the game will go straight to a penalty shoot-out to determine who gets the extra bonus point.

TEAM NEWS

Hector Kyprianou will be out between six and eight weeks after a scan confirmed damage to his hamstring. He joins Jadel Katongo (hamstring), Bradley Ihionvien (calf), Chris Conn-Clarke (shoulder), Mahamadou Susoho (muscle injury) on the treatment table.

Archie Collins picked up his fifth booking of the season on Saturday and will miss the clash with Rotherham, so is likely to start against Stevenage.

George Nevett and Joel Randall will both start while there could be rotation between the sticks with NIck Bilokapic expected to replace Jed Steer.

Daniel Sweeney (knee), Jake Forster-Caskey (knee) and Aaron Pressley (ankle) are out of contention for the visitors, while Nathan Thompson has been added to to the treatment table after he was forced off on Saturday.

Louis Thompson is a doubt while Dan Phillips might also not feature after both were substituted by Alex Revell. Defender Charlie Goode is unavailable due to a leg injury.

ONE TO WATCH

Jamie Reid

Reid graduated from the Exeter City youth team to turn professional in April 2012. Reid made his debut for Exeter on 26th December 2012, receiving praise for his performance in a 3–1 defeat to Oxford United at St James Park. Loan moves at Dorchester, Torquay United and Truro followed before making the move permanent to Torquay.

Reid joined League Two club Mansfield Town on a two-year contract on 23 June 2020. He scored his first goal for Mansfield on 10 November 2020 in an EFL Trophy group game against Scunthorpe United. MANAGER QUOTES

"I suspect that Stevenage may go stronger than perhaps they might have done because their game is off at the weekend. We have to pick a team with Saturday in mind. It will be a strong team that I pick and we will be going out there to win the game because that will secure us progress in the competition and that is always the aim at the start of the campaign, win the first two games in the competition and then rotate more in the third fixture," Darren Ferguson said.
