Posh v Wigan Athletic

A look ahead to Tuesday evening's Sky Bet League One clash with Wigan Athletic at the Weston Homes Stadium (7.45pm).

Peterborough United are back in action on Tuesday evening with Wigan Athletic the visitors to the Weston Homes Stadium in Sky Bet League One action (7.45pm).

Darren Ferguson's men will be looking to bounce back after Saturday's disappointing result at the LNER Stadium against Lincoln City.

Wigan were 2-0 winners over Bristol Rovers at the Brick Community Stadium last time out with Jonny Smith scoring the decisive second goal.

TEAM NEWS

Posh are without the services of Kwame Poku and Rio Adebisi, while defender Emmanuel Fernandez will be missing due to concussion.

Jadel Katongo is expected to be out for three weeks with a hamstring injury while Carl Johnston is a doubt with a calf problem.

Oscar Wallin is back in contention after a short period away from the club and is expected to be named in the squad.

Wigan are not reporting any fresh injury concerns ahead of the game with James Carragher, son of Jamie, hoping to build on his performance, which yielded a goal, on Saturday.

MANAGER QUOTES

"For me as manager, it is simple. Saturday's performance and result has to be the lowest point. We have 19 games to go this season and everyone knows what the aim and objective is. We are in a battle, we have to face it head on. There is no point hiding that. I want to see a reaction from my players," Darren Ferguson said.

ONE TO WATCH

THELO AASGAARD

Aasgaard joined the youth academy of Wigan Athletic at the age of 14, having previously been a part of the youth set-up at Liverpool, and signed scholarship forms with the club in 2018. His progress in the academy ranks was interrupted by injuries during the following two seasons, but he impressed enough for his scholarship deal to be extended for a third year in 2020.

As a result of Wigan being put into administration in the 2019–20 season, and the team's subsequent relegation from the Championship, Aasgaard was promoted to the club's first-team squad along with several other academy players for their 2020–21 League One campaign.

Aasgaard made his professional debut with Wigan in a 1–0 EFL League One loss at home to Posh on 20 October 2020. He scored his first goal for Wigan in a 2–1 defeat against Oxford United on 21 November 2020. In January 2021, Aasgaard signed his first professional contract with Wigan, signing until the summer of 2023. He ended his first season having played 35 times in all competitions, including 13 league starts, scoring three goals.

After a solid start to the 2021/22 season, Aasgaard signed an improved four-and-a-half-year contract, running until June 2026.
