A look ahead to Saturday’s clash with Wrexham at the Weston Homes Stadium (3pm).
Peterborough United welcome Wrexham to the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday afternoon in Sky Bet League One action (3pm) with a big crowd expected to see two teams look to build on solid starts to the new campaign.
Posh have won two out of three of their league fixtures so far following back-to-back away wins at Shrewsbury Town and Exeter City, while the Red Dragons arrive on the back of a comfortable 3-0 home success over Reading at the Racecourse Ground.
TEAM NEWS
Posh are without the services of defender Rio Adebisi and midfielder Ryan De Havilland due to injury, but manager Darren Ferguson has declared a clean bill of health otherwise. Young midfielder Donay O'Brien-Brady, who signed a new deal on Friday, is pushing for a starting berth in the XI.
As for the visitors, midfielder George Evans is set to miss a second consecutive game with a groin injury he picked up in training. Ollie Rathbone missed the win over Reading with a foot problem, but Parkinson is hopeful he will be available to feature in Saturday's matchday squad. Paul Mullin made his return from injury as a substitute last weekend, and he will look to get more minutes off the bench in a bid to build up his match sharpness.
ONE TO WATCH
Jack Marriott
Wrexham AFC secured the services of experienced EFL striker Jack Marriott on Transfer Deadline Day. The 29-year-old joined from Fleetwood Town, having scored 13 times in 43 appearances for the Fishermen. The forward has a track record of scoring goals in the EFL, having famously scored two goals at Elland Road in the Championship play-off semi-finals to earn Derby County a place at Wembley whilst playing alongside current Wrexham team-mate George Evans.
Prior to that, he played for Peterborough United, making a name for himself in League One for his goalscoring exploits which earned him the 2017-18 Golden Boot with 27 goals in 44 appearances.
MANAGER QUOTES
"Wrexham have an excellent fan base and the owners have taken the club to a complete another level and they deserve a lot of credit for that. I spent eight years at Wrexham, we had success, we had financial issues, but it was a great place to be. I was only meant to spend a month there! There are a lot of good people at the club, but I am focussed on us trying to get the right result," Darren Ferguson said.
