The Posh Women Development Squad host Thrapston Town Ladies in the East Midland’s League Plate.
Peterborough United Women Development Squad will entertain Thrapston Town Ladies at the idverde Training Ground on Sunday afternoon (3pm) in the East Midland’s League Plate as both sides lost their League Cup games earlier this season.
It is the first game back following the winter break and Shaun Harley’s side will be hoping for an upturn in results as the Posh Development Squad suffered a poor December run due to player injuries and illnesses. Posh have already played Thrapston Town at home in the league earlier this season, recording a 3-1 win courtesy of goals from Andreia Oliveira and Emily Johnson.
The mid-season break has enabled many players to recover from injuries and this weekend’s game will see a return to action for Edyn Okser. Goalkeeper Danni Cooper-King will not line-up in between the sticks due to illness. Shaun Harley’s side could, however, provide debuts to numerous players from the Emerging Talent Centre.
The Development Squad will need to be wary of Thrapston Town’s attacker Amelia Boddington, who has scored 11 goals in 7 appearances this season and will be hoping to continue that form into the second half of the season.
Speaking ahead of the game, Harley said: “I’m looking forward to seeing how the players react from the break and we should also have some ETC players making their debuts, so I look forward to seeing how they perform. We obviously know a fair bit about Thrapston already as we’ve played them here in the league. We won that game 3-1, but the game was very physical and Thrapston have an abundance of experience in their side, so they are likely to cause us problems."
