Posh Women U23s

Posh Women Under 23s host Sporting Khalsa on Sunday afternoon.

Peterborough United Women Under 23s continue their run of consecutive home fixtures at the idverde Training Ground on Sunday afternoon (3pm) as they host Sporting Khalsa Reserves in the FA Women’s National League Reserves Midlands Division.

Posh are currently three games unbeaten having secured a place in the Reserves League Cup quarter-finals last weekend with an 8-0 win over MK Dons Development; after securing a 12-0 victory over Barnsley and a 1-1 draw with Derby County.

Opposition, Sporting Khalsa Reserves, currently sit fourth with three wins in their opening five domestic fixtures. They most recently exited the Reserves Plate last weekend after a 5-1 loss to Rugby Borough Development. In the league, they lost 6-0 to Stoke City Development after winning 3-2 at Notts County Reserves earlier in October.

Team News

Manager Michael Allsebrook confirmed that Alicia Podd is currently doubtful for this Sunday’s clash after sustaining an injury in the warm-up against MK Dons Development. Taya Smith is unavailable whilst some players could be called up to the First Team in the Adobe FA Cup.

Ruby Shore has netted five goals in as many matches this season whilst Mia Lawson-Spencer sits on four goals for the season.

From The Gaffer

Allsebrook said: “We were outstanding for 90 minutes last weekend against a tough MK Dons side; every player contributed to the win. Khalsa are a good side in the division; they are very competitive who gave us a really good game last year. We know it will be a difficult game but we have to build on the momentum that we have and do the right things on the pitch.

“I’m really pleased about the goals conceded column because that’s something we highlighted earlier on in the season; it’s something we’ve really addressed and have only conceded one goal in our last three games. It shows how far the back-line have come and how well the team is pressing.”
