Peterborough United Women Under 23s take on Stoke City Women Development at the Idverde Training Ground on Sunday afternoon (3pm) in the FA Women’s National League Reserves Midlands Division.
Last weekend, Posh secured a point on the road after their 1-1 draw with Sporting Khalsa Women Development with Rebecca Mears scoring the equaliser.
Stoke sit top of the league on 39 points, only loosing once so far this season. Last time out, they won 8-1 at home to Sutton Coldfield Town Development.
When the two sides met earlier in the season Posh suffered a 4-1 defeat, with Georgie Oliver scoring the consolation goal.
Team News
Under 23s Manager Michael Allsebrook said that there are some doubts for his squad this weekend, however he has a strong side to select from with Under 16s players looking to be rested.
Stoke’s top goal scorer this season is Kaya Anderson who has scored 26 times in 16 appearances.
From The Manager
Allsebrook said: “It’s a tough game- they’re a really good side. We’ve played them three times now with the current set-up. It’s always been a really difficult game. They play a three at the back and they’re really effective at what they do; they play really good football, they’re dangerous in certain areas and they’re solid at the back. We’ve got to be confident and back ourselves and show that we’ve got enough about us to go and get a result.
“It’s nice to be back at home, we’re good at home and we always have been. We have a really good record here and we’ve always been tough to beat here. It’s nice to have some home comforts, to know how the pitch plays and to be able to back yourselves a little bit. Every team that comes here doesn’t look forward to it because they know we’re a good side here but we’ve got to do more than that and earn the right to play here.”
