Posh Women U23s v Derby County Development

Posh Women Under 23s host The Ram’s on Sunday afternoon.

Peterborough United Women Under 23s host Derby County Development at the idverde Training Ground on Sunday afternoon (3pm) in their latest FA Women’s National League Reserves Midlands Division fixture.

The Posh claimed their first league win of the season last weekend as they recorded an emphatic 12-0 win over Barnsley Women Development, courtesy of four goals from Frankie Pim, braces from Ellie Curson and Emily Meli; and further strikes from Jess Abrantes, Rebecca Mears, Georgie Oliver and Alicia Podd.

Opponents, Derby County Development, are the current early leaders in the table having won four and drawn one of their opening five league games this campaign. They most recently won 2-0 away at Sutton Coldfield Town Development.

Team News

Allsebrook confirmed that he will have a sizeable squad to select from, with several players available after recovering from illness.

Caitlyn Deeley is current top scorer for the Ram’s with five goals in as many matches, whilst Maya Williams sits behind her with four goals in five games.

From The Gaffer

Allsebrook said: “Derby are a big football club which is well run, they have a lot of depth in their squad which they had last year. I thought we played well against them last year; they really play on a sides weaknesses where you are maybe not quite as effective and they’ve got good enough players to take advantage of that. We know we have to be as well rounded as we can. We’ve found it hard to play against really good strikers but recently we have defended so much better in recent games. They’ll offer us a real challenge but we know we have the players to threaten them too.

“We got a good win last weekend, but we know it’s going to be a really tough challenge on Sunday which we have to be ready for. It’s a momentum type of league – you can put a run of a few games together. We’re a young group but once we find that consistency to the level we know they can get to. Last weekend was a real high point for us and now it’s about showing we can do that again; even if we don’t get on the right side of the result it’s about how we performed.”
