A look ahead to the FA Women’s National League fixture against The Reds at the Abbey Lawn on Sunday afternoon (2pm).
Peterborough United Women host Barnsley Women in their first home fixture of 2025 at the Abbey Lawn in their latest FA Women's National League Division One Midlands fixture.
Jake Poole’s side started the year with a 1-0 loss away at Boldmere St Michael’s earlier this month with a goal direct from a corner being the difference between the two sides.
Posh sit in second place on 31 points, five points off first place Northampton Town. Opponents Barnsley are currently sixth in the table with 22 points, and won their first fixture of the year last weekend with a 1-0 victory over Solihull Moors.
Team News
Jake Poole spoke to Posh+ ahead of the game and confirmed that he has a large squad at his disposal with the Winter break allowing players to recover from injury. Several players gained important minutes in a behind closed doors friendly last weekend. Defender Ellie York is set to be included in the matchday squad having recovered from a knee injury sustained back in December 2023.
From The Gaffer
Jake Poole said ahead of the game: “Last weekend’s friendly allowed us to get minutes into players that haven’t played as much as they’d like to have recently, whilst also trying new things on the pitch. Barnsley are a well organised side, particularly out of possession which we found out last time. They’re quite direct and have a group of physically strong players which caused us problems last time. We’ve worked on things in training to prepare for this weekend."
One To Watch
Jodie Michalska is in prolific form for the Reds with 12 goals in 14 appearances so far this season.
Last Time Out
The sides met in the reverse fixture back in September at Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park with Posh claiming all three points. Michalska was on target for the home side before Katie Middleton equalised. Frankie Pim came off the bench to secure the win in stoppage time for the Posh.
Ticket News
Tickets are priced at £5 for adults, £4 for seniors, £3 for under 18s and free for under 12s. Supporters can pay by cash or card for the fixture.
