FA Women’s National League football returns to the Idverde training ground on Sunday (3pm).
Peterborough United Women welcome Bedworth United Ladies to the Idverde training ground on Sunday afternoon in our first FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands home fixture in over a month as Dan Lawlor’s side look for their first back-to-back wins of the campaign.
Posh recorded an impressive 1-0 result last weekend against title hopefuls Long Eaton United Ladies after a late goal from Jess Driscoll, while Bedworth United were narrowly beaten at The Oval as Sporting Khalsa came from behind to win 2-1.
Team News
New signing Katie Lowder made her debut for The Posh last weekend, coming on as a substitute in the second half and will be in-contention to feature once again in this Sunday’s fixture against Bedworth United.
Natalie Hurst missed the victory over Long Eaton United Ladies after suffering a small injury, and while Lawlor confirmed the defender is close to making a return to training, she is likely to miss this weekend’s game at the Idverde training ground. Midfielder Stacey McConville remains side-lined for this fixture.
Bedworth United Ladies secured the signing of former Holwell Sports midfielder Katie Connor earlier this month and made her debut as a substitute in the defeat against Sporting Khalsa on Sunday.
From the Gaffer
“We’re in a good place at the moment, but we’re try not to focus on anyone else other than ourselves. If we keep doing the right things, the results will keep on coming and we proved that last week. We must take the performance from last Sunday and not let it be a one-off, putting a little run together is really important as the next few fixtures are with teams around us.
“It would be fantastic to have as many supporters as possible at the game on Sunday because every ‘well done’ the players receive from someone they don’t know helps massively. So, if people are at a loose end on Sunday and fancy coming to watch a game of football, then come down and watch the Women as it a good place to be right now.”
Ticket News
Fans will be able to watch the game at the Idverde training ground. Admission is £3 for adults. To gain access, come to the main gate, where you will be met by a steward and directed where to go.
The Reserves
The Posh Women reserves travel to Holywell Sports Complex as they face Loughborough Foxes Vixens First Women on Sunday (2pm) in an East Midlands Women Regional Football Division One South fixture.
Daniel Bratcher’s side secured a point last weekend against Leicester Road Ladies after Ellen Marson scored the equaliser in the second half while Loughborough Foxes Vixens won 3-1 over Oadby & Wigston Ladies FC.
