Posh Women

Peterborough United Women look to extend their winning run as they welcome Boldemere St. Michaels Women to the Abbey Lawn on Sunday afternoon (2pm) in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands.

Posh Women came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over Barnsley at the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park last weekend leaving Jake Poole’s side with a 100% start to the campaign in league and cup thanks to late goals from Katie Middleton and Frankie Pim.

The Mikes finished fourth in table, a place behind Posh, last season and have had a challenging start to the new campaign after having drawn 1-1 with Barnsley, secured a 1-0 victory over Sutton Coldfield Town and most recently being defeated 3-1 by Northampton Town.

TEAM NEWS

Speaking to Posh+ ahead of Sunday’s game, Poole confirmed the squad will be back to full strength and that he’ll have some tough decisions to make with Ella-Mai Bale back in contention after being rested due to a minor injury.

FROM THE GAFFER

Manager Jake Poole said: “Boldmere look to play really good football, and they look to look after the ball and dominate possession which is a different challenge to what we’ve faced so far this season.

“They’ve got some really experienced, good quality players and good coaching staff as well so we’re expecting a really tough test on Sunday.”

ONE TO WATCH

Jade Formaston is the one to watch this Sunday as the club’s top goalscorer last season. Boldmere have also made a notable signing over the summer of former Wolves forward Grace Mai Gregory.

LAST TIME OUT

Posh suffered a 2-1 defeat to The Mikes after a last minute penalty sealed the game back in January.

Tickets are priced at £5 for adults, £4 for seniors, £3 for under 18s and free for under 14s. Supporters can pay by card-only on the day.
