A look ahead to the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands fixture against Lincoln City at Abbey Lawn on Sunday afternoon (2pm).

Peterborough United Women welcome The Imps to Abbey Lawn, the home of Bourne Town Football Club, on Sunday (2pm) for their first home league fixture of the 2024/25 season after a positive start to their campaign.

Jake Poole started his managerial role off with a 4-1 victory over newly promoted Worcester City at the Sixways Stadium last weekend, thanks to a brace from Tara Kirk and strikes from Keir Perkins and Renai Bennett.

The Imps finished eighth in the table having won five and drawn seventh of their games last season. They were defeated 6-0 in their season opener by runners- up Loughborough Lightning at home last weekend.

Team News

Speaking to Posh+ ahead of the game, Clarke confirmed that Jessica Abrantes, who stepped up from the U23s during pre-season, is still out with a recent injury picked up against Cambridge United, but otherwise stated the rest of the team are at full strength and are available for selection.

Lincoln City’s new Head Coach Charlotte Dinsdale has welcomed thirteen new players to their squad over the summer and will be looking to bounce back after last weekend’s defeat.

From The Coach

Assistant Manager Georgia Clarke said: “They now have got a point to prove and they’ll want to come and try and get three points and get their season going, but we’re in a really good position.

“We’re confident going into our first home game, it’ll be nice to be back at Abbey Lawn in front of the crowd, so we’re looking forward to it as well- we know it’ll be tough like any game will be this season but we’ve had a really good start and we’re just looking to build on that.”

One To Watch

Harriet Wayne is The Imps’ most recent signing and joins City as part of an Academy Development Registration from Leicester City Women. Jacee Fells is another notable signing who has signed a dual registration from Nottingham Forest for the 2024/25 season.

Last Time Out

Posh Women secured a 3-2 victory back in April as they came from behind to beat The Imps thanks to a brace from Emily Brett at the LNER Stadium.
