Posh claimed another three points in their first FAWNL home game of the season after they secured an outstanding 8-0 victory against Lincoln City Women on Sunday. Fans enjoyed a thrilling afternoon that included a hat-trick from Katie Middleton, a brace from super-sub Niamh Connor and goals from captain Keir Perkins, Lauren Wilshaw and Frankie Pim.
The Whites are competing in their debut season at tier four, following an impressive 2023/24 campaign in which they were crowned champions of the East Midlands Women's Regional Football League Premier Division, remaining undefeated throughout. They claimed their first point of the new season with a 1-1 draw against Solihull Moors at home over the weekend.
Team News
Speaking to Posh+ ahead of the game, Jake Poole confirmed that Jessica Abrantes , who stepped up from the Under 23s during pre-season, is still out with a recent injury picked up against Cambridge United Women, but otherwise stated the rest of the team are at full strength and are available for selection.
Lincoln United’s new manager Ricky Pledger has introduced nine new players to his squad over the summer and has most recently welcomed back defender Chloe Brock-Taylor on Monday.
From The Coach
Manager Jake Poole said: “We’ve had twelve goals in two games so it’s been a really positive start and the girls are feeling really pleased and confident.
“Hopefully we can take that confidence into Thursday - it’s another opportunity to get a win under our belts and to progress in a cup, which is a priority as well this season so we’re looking forward to it."
One To Watch
Lauren Churcher is the one to watch this Thursday after netting 15 overall goals last season and was part of the treble winning side. Sarah Newton is also a notable signing for Lincoln this summer, who joins The Whites from Derby County.
