Solihull Moors

A look ahead to the FA Women’s National League fixture against The Moors at the Abbey Lawn on Sunday afternoon (2pm).

Peterborough United Women return to Abbey Lawn on Sunday for the penultimate time this season with Solihull Moors as the visitors this weekend.

Jake Poole’s side are unbeaten in their last four competitive fixtures having beaten Northampton Town Development 6-1 in the Northamptonshire County Cup semi-finals last weekend after drawing 1-1 with Loughborough Lightning four days prior.

The top of the table is tight with Posh currently sitting fourth in the table with 38 points after 17 matches. Lightning are on the same number of points but have played three games fewer, whilst Northampton Town and Leafield Athletic are on 39 points with one game in hand over the Posh.

Solihull Moors currently occupy the relegation zone with five points from 16 matches, they are three points from safety with a game in hand over those around them. They have drawn their last two matches, most recently a stalemate with Worcester City.

Team News

Georgia Clarke spoke to Posh+ ahead of the game and confirmed that she has a large squad at her disposal with Hannah Dawbarn, Macey Bannerman-Lloyd and Jess Stanford sidelined with injury.

Defender Ellie York made a cameo appearance off the bench last weekend for the first time in 14 months. The number two is continuing her return to full fitness with more minutes scheduled for this weekend.

From The Coach

Georgia Clarke said ahead of the game: “We know Solihull will be set up to be organised and compact out of possession and ultimately make life really difficult for us. That was similar to how they set up last time and we expect them to do the same again.

“We’ve spoken to the girls about how last match, especially in the second half, we strayed away from our style of play which meant it took us a really late goal to secure the win. The focus this week is about sticking to our game plan, getting the details right and maintaining the standards that we have set.”

One To Watch

The Moors have netted 15 goals this season. Macy Winters is the club’s top scorer with four goals from six matches this campaign.

Last Time Out

The sides met in the reverse fixture back in September at Studley Sports Centre with Posh securing the points late on courtesy of a 98th minute header from Renai Bennett.

Ticket News

Tickets are priced at £5 for adults, £4 for seniors, £3 for under 18s and free for under 12s. Supporters can pay by cash or card for the fixture.
