Posh Women face Leafield Athletic on Sunday afternoon.
Peterborough United Women welcome Leafield Athletic Ladies to the Abbey Lawn on Sunday afternoon (2pm) in a FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands fixture.
Dan Lawlor’s will be looking to return to winning ways after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Northampton Town Women on Thursday evening. Leafield Athletic claimed an important three points over local rivals Solihull Moors in the week, putting them just one-point behind Posh.
The two sides have met on three occasions since Posh were promoted to FA Women’s National League, including the goalless draw in the reserve fixture back in October.
Team News
Posh will remain without Zaiga Lacite, Eden Bailey, Elloise Copson and Beatriz Borque, who are unavailable due to injuries.
Rosie Axten missed the clash against the Cobblers on Thursday evening, but will be monitored ahead of the game against Leafield Athletic. Defender Kayleigh Aylmer is expected to return to matchday squad.
Leafield Athletic’s Jessica Lowe could be the key player for the visitors on Sunday afternoon, netting eight goals in 16 appearances so far this season and is the club’s leading goalscorer.
From The Gaffer
“It was a game of two halves on Thursday night. The way we performed in the first 45 minutes and conceding two goals, we were always going to leave ourselves a mountain to climb. However, I was over the moon with performance in the second half and had a massive reaction from all the players and felt we deserved something from the game in the end.
“Losing games is never easy and the players were gutted in the changing room after the defeat to Northampton Town. They put in a good performance in the second half against a tough side. We will have to just regroup and put all our focus towards Leafield Athletic on Sunday and try to return to winning ways as soon as possible.”
Ticket News
Tickets are priced at £4 for adults, £3 for seniors, £2 for under 18s and free for under 12s. Supporters will be able to pay on the gate.
