Posh Women face Leek Town on Sunday afternoon in the FA Women’s National League.
Peterborough United Women welcome Leek Town Ladies to Abbey Lawn on Sunday (2pm) in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands as they look to continue their winning streak.
Dan Lawlor’s side returned to winning ways last weekend after a 5-1 victory over Leafield Athletic Ladies thanks to a brace from Tara Kirk and goals from Evie Driscoll-King, Rebecca Mears and Renai Bennett at Castle Vale Stadium.
Leek Town are currently sat ninth in the table having won three and drawn four of their games so far this season. The visitors won 3-1 to Newcastle Town Women last Sunday in the Staffordshire FA Challenge Cup and drew 1-1 to Leafield Athletic Ladies at home in their last league fixture.
Team News
Speaking to Posh+ ahead of the game, Lawlor confirmed that his new signing, defender Ella Hilliard, will be involved in Sunday’s matchday squad. He also confirmed captain Keir Perkins will continue to ease her way back into games and is ready to get involved on Sunday.
Forward Tara Kirk is currently Posh’s top league goal scorer so far this season after netting nine goals in 17 appearances.
Leek Town signed Kay Baker earlier in January and joined their squad from Salford City Lionesses.
From The Gaffer
“It was a good performance and a great way to bounce back last week, now we’ve just got to keep building on that and keep up the intensity.”
“It was a big bonus to have KP back as she’s our captain and people look up to her, especially the way she plays, her pace, her aggression and how much it means to her- having her back is massive for us.”
“It’s crazy what one week of football can do, the way it makes you feel, the enthusiasm and the spring in your step. These girls know what’s required of them, they come in with a smile on their face and they’re in a good place- we all are.”
“They [Leek Town] have brought in some new players over the summer and although I would say their home form is better than their away form, by all means I don’t mean that these aren’t a good side or that they can’t compete well against us.”
One To Watch
Chantelle Gallagher is one to watch ahead of this weekend’s fixture and is the club’s leading goalscorer after netting eight goals in 13 appearances so far this season.
Last Time Out
Posh secured three points earlier in the season as they came from behind to win 3-1 at The F. Ball Community Stadium courtesy of second-half strikes from Sophie Scargill and Katie Middleton.

Tickets are priced at £5 for adults, £4 for seniors, £3 for under 18s and free for under 12s. Supporters can pay by cash or card on the game.
